MFM Halts Nationwide Vigils, Sets 8pm Closing Time
The Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) has announced the suspension of all vigils, overnight prayer meetings and similar late-night programmes across its branches nationwide as part of measures to address growing security concerns.
According to an internal communication obtained by Ireporter Online, the directive was issued through a circular dated June 5, 2026, and signed by the ministry’s Director of Administration, Temitope Olawale.
The circular mandates that all church services, programmes, meetings and activities at every level of the ministry must conclude no later than 8:00 p.m. until further notice. It also ordered the immediate suspension of vigils and other overnight gatherings across all branches.
The ministry advised branches that usually hold such programmes to replace them with evening prayer meetings that must end on or before the newly stipulated closing time.
The church explained that the decision was taken as a proactive step to ensure the safety and well-being of its members amid prevailing security challenges across the country. It emphasized that the measures are strictly precautionary and aimed at protecting worshippers from potential risks.
To ensure full compliance, the directive was extended to all overseers, zonal pastors, branch pastors, groups and departments within the ministry. Mega Regional Overseers were also instructed to communicate the decision to every region, zone and branch under their supervision for immediate implementation.
The latest development reflects increasing concerns over insecurity in several parts of Nigeria, with religious organizations adopting additional safety measures to safeguard congregants during worship and other church activities.
