Don’t D!e For Nigeria” — Presidential Aide Blasts Nasboi Over Patriotism Remarks
A social media controversy has erupted between Nigerian skit maker and musician Nasboi and presidential aide Segun Dada over remarks on patriotism and national service.
According to Ireporter Online, the dispute began after Nasboi posted on his handle, cautioning that regardless of how patriotic an individual may be, they should not be willing to die for Nigeria. In his words, “No matter how patriotic, please don’t die for Nigeria.”
The statement sparked immediate backlash from Segun Dada, who defended members of the Nigerian armed forces, insisting that soldiers and other security personnel voluntarily put their lives on the line to protect citizens and preserve national security. He emphasized that the sacrifices made by military personnel should not be downplayed, noting that they risk their lives daily in the service of the country.
Dada further criticised Nasboi personally, questioning his contributions across entertainment, and describing him as unsuccessful in comedy, skit-making, and music. He wrote that members of the armed forces “give their lives for the nation without question to safeguard lives and properties,” adding that the entertainer had no justification to dismiss such sacrifices.
The exchange has since generated widespread reactions online, with users divided over the comments and the broader debate on patriotism and national duty.
