Oyo APC Condemns Kidnap Of Adelabu’s Sister And Twins
According to Ireporter Online, the Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly condemned the abduction of Mrs Busayo Adelabu John-Paul, sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, alongside her 12-year-old twin sons.
The party described the incident as a troubling reflection of the worsening security situation in the state, noting that it has further heightened public anxiety over the safety of residents.
Mrs John-Paul was reportedly kidnapped on Wednesday morning in the Elewura-Challenge area of Ibadan by unidentified armed men. The assailants were said to have trailed the victims’ vehicle from their residence before intercepting it and whisking them away at about 7:30 a.m.
In a statement released in Ibadan by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, the APC said the development had deepened concerns over the rising cases of abductions across Oyo State. It further stated that the incident adds to ongoing unresolved kidnapping cases in the state.
The party referenced the continued captivity of schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area, as well as two staff members of the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria who were kidnapped in the Idi-Ayunre area of Oluyole Local Government Area.
The APC urged Governor Seyi Makinde to intensify collaboration with security agencies and other relevant stakeholders, stressing the need for urgent measures to curb the growing wave of kidnappings and restore public confidence in the state’s security system.
It also called for a comprehensive review of the state’s security architecture to address existing gaps, while demanding the immediate rescue of all abducted victims, including those from Oriire, CRIN staff, and Mrs John-Paul and her children.
The party maintained that decisive and swift action was required from both the government and security agencies to ensure the safety of residents and restore normalcy across Oyo State.
