Arsenal F.C. Move To Secure Mikel Arteta With Huge New Deal

Arsenal Football Club are reportedly close to agreeing a new long-term contract with manager Mikel Arteta, as discussions over an improved deal continue to make steady progress. The proposed agreement is expected to keep the Spanish coach at the Emirates Stadium beyond the end of his current contract, which runs until the 2026/27 season.

According to Ireporter Online, negotiations are already underway for a fresh three-year extension, although no final agreement is anticipated until Arteta returns from his summer break. Despite that, there is growing optimism within the club that a deal is only a matter of time.

The new contract would come with a significant salary increase, with Arteta currently earning in the region of £10 million per year, excluding performance-related bonuses tied to UEFA Champions League qualification. If completed, the revised package would place him among the highest-paid managers in English football, potentially closing the gap on the earnings previously associated with former Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.

The development comes as Arsenal prepare for an active transfer window ahead of the 2026/27 campaign. Reports indicate that the club are planning a major squad rebuild following their recent domestic success, despite narrowly missing out on the UEFA Champions League title after a penalty shootout defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.

Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has suggested that Arsenal have already begun laying the groundwork for multiple signings, with at least three arrivals expected and possibly more depending on player departures. A top winger is believed to be the priority, alongside reinforcements in midfield and at right-back, while the striker position remains under review.

Football journalist David Ornstein also noted that Arsenal remain in a strong financial position, dismissing concerns that spending would need to be heavily offset by player sales. He highlighted that the club could match or even exceed their previous summer investment levels as they aim to strengthen key areas of the squad.

Arsenal’s recruitment focus is expected to include a number of positions, including a central midfielder capable of playing both defensive and advanced roles, a right-back option, and additional attacking depth. Several long-serving players could also be allowed to leave as part of the planned squad restructuring.
