According to Ireporter Online, the Presidency has raised concerns over recent comments made by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, directed at the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar.

Babachir Lawal, while announcing his resignation from the ADC on Monday, accused Atiku of allegedly manipulating the party’s recently concluded primaries. He claimed that the exercise at all levels was predetermined to favour the former Vice President, alleging that the outcomes were “massively rigged” to secure victory for “Kachalla Abubakar Atiku.” He further stated that results were “written or rewritten” to favour the candidate and his allies.

Reacting via a post on , the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, described Lawal’s remarks as deeply troubling, warning that, if verified, they could raise serious national security implications. Bwala questioned the basis of Lawal’s claims and suggested that the statements, if proven accurate, would be “scary” and potentially destabilising.

The presidential aide also took aim at the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), alleging that its presidential candidate holds flawed ideological positions on democracy and governance. He further referenced past media interviews, suggesting that Lawal had previously made controversial remarks about other political figures.

Bwala argued that recent developments within opposition circles have exposed contradictions in their earlier claims of unity, insisting that their internal disagreements have now become public. He maintained that the unfolding political dynamics point to a clearer electoral outlook ahead of 2027, expressing confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s political standing.
