Eid-el-Kabir: Kano Declares Sallah Holiday For Schools

According to Ireporter Online, the Kano State Ministry of Education has announced the commencement of Eid-el-Kabir holidays for all public and private primary and secondary schools across the state.

The directive was issued in a statement on Wednesday by the Director of Public Enlightenment in the ministry, Misbahu Yakasai, noting that the holiday applies to both boarding and day schools. According to the announcement, boarding schools are to proceed on holiday from Saturday, May 23, 2026, and are expected to resume academic activities on Sunday, May 31, 2026. Parents and guardians were urged to make necessary arrangements to pick up their wards on the approved closing date and ensure their timely return upon resumption.

Similarly, day schools are to commence their Sallah break from Friday, May 22, 2026, with resumption scheduled for Monday, June 1, 2026. The ministry called on school authorities, parents, and guardians to strictly adhere to the approved academic calendar, stressing the importance of timely resumption to prevent disruption to studies.

Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ali Makoda, in the statement, extended festive greetings to students, teachers, parents, and the wider education community, urging them to use the period to promote peace, discipline, and good conduct. The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining an orderly academic calendar across the state.
