Justice Served: Two Get Death Penalty For Killing DELSU Student

A Delta State High Court has sentenced two individuals to death after finding them guilty of involvement in the 2018 murder of Delta State University student, Elozino Ogege.

According to Ireporter Online, the court convicted the two defendants following a lengthy trial into the killing of the 22-year-old Mass Communication student, whose death sparked widespread outrage and demands for justice.

The court, however, discharged and acquitted another person who was also prosecuted in connection with the high-profile case.

Elozino, a 300-level student of Delta State University, was reported missing on November 15, 2018, before her body was later discovered in a bush near Abraka, Delta State, on November 18, 2018.

The tragic incident attracted public attention, with many Nigerians calling for a thorough investigation and justice for the deceased student.

Following the murder, the Delta State Police Command launched an investigation and arrested some suspects believed to be connected to the crime.

The then Delta State Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Mustafa, disclosed that two suspected internet fraudsters and a security guard were among those arrested in connection with the case.

Mustafa stated that investigations suggested the student was allegedly killed by individuals suspected of involvement in ritual-related activities.

He said at the time that some major suspects linked to the incident had been apprehended and were assisting the police with ongoing investigations.

The latest court judgment brings a major development to the long-running case, with two suspects now facing the ultimate penalty after being convicted for their roles in the student’s death.
