12 Terrorists K!lled As Troops Crush Fresh Attack In Borno

The incident occurred on Friday when suspected insurgents attempted to infiltrate locations occupied by personnel of the 153 Task Force Battalion and allied units along the Nigeria–Cameroon border corridor.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Media Information Officer of Operation Hadin Kai, Lt. Col. Sani Uba, confirmed that the attackers were swiftly detected by vigilant troops who immediately engaged them with superior firepower.

He disclosed that the operation was supported by members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, as well as intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance assets, and the Air Component of the operation, which provided coordinated backing during the engagement.

According to him, the rapid response forced the terrorists to abandon their mission and retreat in disarray, preventing what could have been a major breach of military positions in the area.

Uba stated that 12 terrorists were confirmed dead after the encounter, while several others fled with varying degrees of gunshot injuries, with blood trails observed along their withdrawal routes, indicating further casualties.

He added that follow-up operations had commenced to track the fleeing insurgents and recover additional abandoned weapons.

Items recovered from the scene included AK-47 rifles, rocket-propelled grenade launchers, a PKT machine gun, and assorted ammunition, which the military said had significantly reduced the combat capability of the group in the area.

The statement further noted that troops have maintained heightened vigilance in the region to forestall any renewed attempt to attack military formations or nearby communities.

Military authorities commended the personnel involved for their professionalism, bravery, and swift response, urging them to sustain pressure on terrorist elements across the North-East theatre of operations.

Operation Hadin Kai reaffirmed its commitment to the complete neutralisation of terrorist networks and the restoration of lasting peace and security in the region, particularly along the strategically sensitive Kirawa axis near the Nigeria–Cameroon border.
