According to Ireporter Online, the Appeal Committee of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has issued fresh directives on the party’s primary elections conducted in Kaduna State ahead of the 2027 general elections. The committee ordered fresh and rerun primaries across several federal and state constituencies following its review of petitions arising from the exercises.

The panel, however, affirmed Shuaibu Idris Mikati as the party’s governorship candidate for the 2027 election. This decision was announced by the committee chairman, Dr. Muhammed Mustapha Fagge, after a thorough examination of complaints, documentary evidence, and submissions from aggrieved aspirants.

Dr. Fagge explained that the committee’s rulings were guided by principles of fairness, transparency, and strict adherence to the party’s internal electoral guidelines. He noted that while some results were upheld, others were invalidated due to irregularities, procedural lapses, and cases where eligible aspirants were omitted from ballots.

Among the affirmed outcomes, the committee upheld the victories of Tukur Salisu Kakeyi in the Zaria Federal Constituency and Muhammed Mahmoud Aliyu in the Soba Federal Constituency, citing credible vote counts from the primaries.

However, rerun and fresh primaries were ordered in several constituencies, including Ikara/Kubau Federal Constituency, where the committee discovered that a screened aspirant, Ibrahim Danlami Kubau, was excluded from the ballot. A fresh primary was also mandated in Kaduna South Federal Constituency over insufficient evidence confirming that elections were conducted across all wards.

The rerun exercises will affect constituencies across Kaura, Soba, Ikara, Kajuru, Badarawa/Malali, Magajin Gari II, Birnin Gwari, Tudun Wada West, Igabi, Kagarko, Kawo, Zaria, Chikun/Kajuru, and Kudan/Makarfi, among others.

The committee further clarified that any consensus arrangement in the Kaduna North Senatorial District must have the full consent of all stakeholders involved to be deemed valid.
