Prophet Isa El-Buba Withdraws Support For Peter Obi, Endorses Another Presidential Candidate

Renowned cleric and convener of the Initiative for a Better and Brighter Nigeria (IBBN), Prophet Isa El-Buba, has withdrawn his support for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, ahead of the 2027 general election.

According to Ireporter Online, El-Buba announced his new political alignment in favour of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo, during a meeting with party faithful, youth leaders, and delegates in Bauchi State.

He said his decision was motivated by the need to safeguard Nigeria’s democratic diversity and resist what he described as a gradual drift toward authoritarian-style politics. The cleric described the gathering as a significant turning point in the country’s political trajectory.

El-Buba further stated that Adebayo possesses the vision and leadership qualities required to restore national values and rebuild public confidence in governance. He also revealed that his nationwide IBBN structure would be mobilised to support the SDP candidate at the grassroots level.

Warning against vote-buying, the cleric cautioned politicians against attempts to influence citizens with money or food items, insisting that Nigerians are increasingly politically aware and determined to reclaim the country’s future.

“Nobody will buy the conscience of Nigeria with money or a bag of rice. Nigerians are tired, and it is time to recover the glory of our country,” he said.

He also congratulated the SDP leadership on what he described as a peaceful and well-organised convention, urging unity within the party. El-Buba expressed optimism that the new political alignment would usher in a period of national renewal and economic prosperity.
