Presidency Fires Back At Peter Obi Following Keyamo’s Airport CCTV Evidence

According to Ireporter Online, the controversy followed comments made by Peter Obi during a recent interview, where he alleged that airport officials unfairly clamped his vehicle in what he described as an attempt to frustrate him.

However, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, countered the claim, stating that an internal investigation revealed that Obi’s vehicle was improperly parked at the airport.

Keyamo reportedly asked the former Anambra State governor to apologise to airport officials and pay a ₦25,000 fine, insisting that the action taken by authorities was in line with airport regulations.

The minister explained that CCTV footage from the airport showed that Obi arrived at the domestic terminal of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on July 4, 2026, at about 8:28 p.m., in a vehicle driven by a police officer.

He added that after dropping off Obi and two other passengers, the driver parked the vehicle in a designated drop-off area but left it unattended while entering the terminal, an action said to be against airport rules.

Reacting to the development, President Bola Tinubu’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Temitope Ajayi, challenged Peter Obi to retract what he described as a misleading account of the incident.

Ajayi, in a post on his X handle, accused Obi of portraying himself as a victim despite evidence presented by the aviation minister.

He stated that with the release of the CCTV footage and details of the investigation, Obi should show integrity by acknowledging the facts surrounding the incident and correcting his earlier claims.

The exchange has continued to generate reactions among Nigerians, with supporters of both sides debating the circumstances surrounding the airport parking controversy.
