World Population Day: Radda Calls For More Jobs, Better Healthcare And Education Investment

According to Ireporter Online, Radda made the call in a statement marking the 2026 World Population Day, where he described population growth as both a challenge and an opportunity that requires purposeful policies to maximise the potential of Katsina’s youthful population.

The governor stated that his administration would continue to focus on transforming the state’s large youth population into a productive workforce through policies aimed at expanding economic opportunities and improving human capital development.

Radda stressed the importance of accurate population data in shaping effective government programmes, noting that development plans must be based on reliable statistics rather than assumptions.

He explained that every new birth, young person entering the labour market and family requiring access to healthcare must be considered during budget planning and policy formulation.

The governor noted that Katsina cannot depend on estimates when designing development strategies, adding that his administration would strengthen data collection systems to ensure better planning and resource allocation.

He revealed that the government would expand access to family planning services, invest in skills acquisition initiatives and support micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) to create more employment opportunities for young people.

Radda also directed Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the state to align their 2026 programmes and activities with updated population data to improve the effectiveness of government interventions.

He further disclosed that key areas such as maternal healthcare, girl-child education, youth empowerment and food security would remain central to the administration’s development agenda.

The governor urged traditional leaders, religious institutions, civil society groups and media organisations to collaborate with the government in promoting responsible family planning practices and encouraging citizens to embrace birth registration.

He maintained that a well-planned population strategy would help Katsina harness its human resources and achieve sustainable development.
