The Deputy Spokesperson of the House of Representatives, Philip Agbese, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Nigeria’s security agencies following the successful rescue of pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

According to Ireporter Online, Agbese, a lawmaker representing the Labour Party, described the operation as a significant milestone in Nigeria’s ongoing efforts to tackle terrorism, kidnapping and other violent crimes across the country.

Speaking with journalists in Abuja on Sunday, the lawmaker said the successful rescue mission had renewed public confidence in Nigeria’s security system, adding that criminal elements would no longer be allowed to dictate the nation’s security narrative.

Agbese praised President Tinubu, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Chief of Defence Staff General Olufemi Oluyede, service chiefs, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services and other security personnel involved in the operation.

He stated that the achievement reflected improved intelligence gathering, stronger coordination and greater professionalism among security agencies.

The lawmaker noted that the rescue of the abducted pupils and teachers represented more than a security victory, describing it as a demonstration of Nigeria’s determination to overcome threats posed by criminal groups.

He said the operation showed that the government and security forces had the capacity and commitment to protect citizens and confront those responsible for insecurity.

Agbese further highlighted other recent security successes, including operations carried out by troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA in Zamfara and Katsina states, where security personnel reportedly disrupted planned attacks, eliminated suspected terrorist figures and recovered weapons and equipment.

He also referenced an air operation that reportedly intercepted hundreds of suspected terrorists travelling on motorcycles before they could launch attacks on communities.

According to him, the recent achievements were not isolated incidents but indications that security agencies had taken a more proactive approach in tackling criminal activities through intelligence-based operations.

“What we are witnessing today is a new level of intelligence-driven security operations, with troops rescuing victims, dismantling criminal networks and limiting the movement of terrorists,” Agbese stated.

The lawmaker urged Nigerians to continue supporting security agencies by providing useful information that could assist in preventing attacks and maintaining peace across communities.

He also encouraged residents to remain alert and work closely with security personnel to sustain the progress recorded in the fight against insecurity.

Addressing insurgents, bandits and other criminal groups, Agbese urged them to surrender, warning that ongoing security operations would continue to weaken their activities.

He maintained that every successful rescue mission, neutralisation of criminal leaders and dismantling of illegal networks represented another step towards achieving lasting peace and stability in Nigeria.
