Tinubu Knew Exactly What He Came To Do As President” – Uzodimma
Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has likened President Bola Tinubu to Singapore’s founding leader, Lee Kuan Yew, describing the President’s economic reforms as bold initiatives capable of transforming Nigeria and laying a solid foundation for long-term national development.
According to Ireporter Online, the governor made the remarks during a state dinner held in Owerri to conclude the three-day Renewed Hope Ambassadors and Presidential Communications Team National Media Tour of Federal Government and Imo State projects. His comments were contained in a statement issued by the Director of Media and Publicity of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Tunde Rahman.
Uzodimma said President Tinubu assumed office with a clear understanding of the country’s economic realities and wasted no time in introducing reforms aimed at addressing long-standing structural challenges. He maintained that the administration had ushered in a new economic direction, insisting that the President was fully aware of the task before him from the outset.
Drawing a comparison with Singapore’s remarkable economic transformation under Lee Kuan Yew, the governor expressed confidence that Tinubu’s policies would deliver similar progress for Nigeria over time. He acknowledged that while the reforms had brought temporary hardship for many citizens, they were already beginning to produce measurable gains.
According to the governor, increased government revenues generated through the reforms have strengthened the capacity of state governments to invest in critical sectors such as infrastructure, healthcare, education and technology. He noted that the projects currently being executed in Imo State were largely made possible by the improved fiscal environment created through the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Uzodimma further predicted that Nigerians would reward President Tinubu with a second term in the 2027 presidential election as the positive impact of the reforms becomes more evident across the country.
Speaking on behalf of journalists who participated in the media tour, veteran journalist Dr. Soni Daniel commended the Imo State Government for its strides in infrastructure, healthcare, education and digital innovation. He said the inspection provided participants with firsthand evidence of how public resources were being deployed for developmental projects, adding that Imo has emerged as one of Nigeria’s leading states in infrastructure and economic advancement.
Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, applauded Governor Uzodimma for the extensive projects delivered in the state and his commitment to implementing the Renewed Hope Agenda. He stated that facilities inspected during the tour—including the Imo Digital City, the 2,000-bed Infectious Disease Centre, the Heart Transplant Centre, the University of Innovation, Science and Technology, and the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Convention Centre—reflect the benefits of effective collaboration between the Federal Government and state governments, as well as improved allocations from the Federation Account Allocation Committee.
