According to Ireporter Online, the Presidency has accused the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) 2027 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, of repeatedly making claims that his life is under threat as part of a calculated political strategy aimed at winning public sympathy and mobilising his supporters.

The allegation was made by the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Public Communications, Daniel Bwala, while responding to Obi’s recent comments in Berlin, Germany. Obi had alleged that there was an attempt on his life during a planned visit to Benue State in April 2025.

Reacting through a post on his verified account on Saturday, Bwala dismissed the allegation, describing it as another example of what he called Obi’s growing desperation.

The presidential aide also referenced an earlier controversy involving Obi and airport officials, arguing that the former Anambra State governor had previously claimed his life was in danger after airport authorities challenged him over an alleged breach of traffic regulations within the airport premises.

Bwala maintained that Obi has established a pattern of making false allegations involving threats to his safety. He further alleged that the latest claim was intended to stir emotions among members of the Obidient Movement and encourage hostility toward his political opponents.

He questioned the credibility of Obi’s latest allegations, insisting that such statements were unbecoming of someone seeking to lead the country. Bwala further accused the former governor of using repeated claims of intimidation and threats as a political tool to galvanise support while portraying himself as a victim.
