The self-proclaimed Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), Adeniyi Adeyemi, was arrested by the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) led by Chief Superintendent of Police, Moses Lohor, following an extensive tracking operation.

According to Ireporter Online, Adeyemi was apprehended last Tuesday between 11am and 12pm at a location within the Ijebu-Ijesa area of Osun State. His arrest reportedly followed a bench warrant issued by a Federal High Court in Abuja after he allegedly failed to appear in court for his arraignment on eight criminal charges.

Details surrounding the operation revealed that Adeyemi’s location was uncovered after security operatives intensified efforts to track him. A senior police officer in the Osun State Police Command disclosed that the suspect was first located around the Aregbe-Fakule area of Osogbo on July 9, after previously avoiding capture by the Department of State Services (DSS).

The officer explained that the IRT team led by Lohor took over the tracking operation after the DSS stepped away from the case. According to the source, the team had already identified Adeyemi as a person of interest but had delayed action because the matter was being handled by the DSS.

The police source further revealed that Adeyemi had allegedly been difficult to track as he frequently switched off his phone, with his last known location previously traced to Ibadan by the DSS.

After receiving information about the DSS withdrawal, Lohor’s team reportedly resumed efforts to locate the suspect. The operation eventually led them to Ilesa, Osun State, where Adeyemi was arrested on Tuesday morning.

The security team was said to have kept the operation discreet, informing the Osun State Commissioner of Police only when they were ready to execute the arrest.

Adeyemi is currently being held at the Force Headquarters in Abuja and is expected to appear before the court on July 27 for his arraignment.
