Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, has been elected as the 33rd President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) following the conclusion of the association’s national elections.

According to Ireporter Online, Badejo-Okusanya secured 12,317 votes, representing 47.18 per cent of the total valid votes cast, to emerge victorious in the keenly contested election.

She defeated fellow Senior Advocates of Nigeria, Lateef Akangbe, who garnered 7,934 votes, and Olumuyiwa Akinboro, who polled 5,855 votes.

The election also produced other national officers to lead the association. Oghenero Okoro was elected First Vice President after polling 11,024 votes, while Afam Okeke emerged as General Secretary with 8,478 votes.

Aghogho Gladys won the position of Assistant General Secretary with 14,312 votes, while Chinelo Audrey Ofoegbunam secured the office of Welfare Secretary after receiving 14,911 votes.

The outcome of the election marks the emergence of a new leadership team expected to steer the affairs of the Nigerian Bar Association during its next administration.
