Breaking: Senegalese Leader Emerges New ECOWAS Chairman
President Bassirou Diomaye Faye of Senegal has emerged as the new Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), marking a significant leadership transition within the regional organisation.
According to Ireporter Online, Faye takes over the leadership of the West African bloc from Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio, who previously held the position.
The leadership change is part of a broader restructuring of the regional body, with Biram Diop also assuming the role of President of the ECOWAS Commission. Diop replaces Dr. Omar Toure, who previously served in the position.
The latest development is expected to shape the direction of ECOWAS as it continues efforts toward strengthening regional cooperation, economic integration, and addressing key challenges facing member states.
