Spain defender Marc Cucurella has revealed that he will retire from international football and get a tattoo of head coach Luis de la Fuente’s face on his bicep if Spain defeat Argentina in Sunday’s FIFA World Cup final.

According to Ireporter Online, the newly signed Real Madrid player said lifting both the UEFA European Championship and the FIFA World Cup would represent the pinnacle of his international career, leaving him with no further goals to pursue while representing La Roja.

Cucurella stated that if Spain emerge victorious in the final, he would immediately inform coach Luis de la Fuente of his decision to step away from international football. He explained that winning both major international trophies would be the ultimate achievement and that he could not aspire to accomplish anything greater with the national team.

The defender also vowed to permanently commemorate the triumph by tattooing the face of Spain’s manager on his bicep should the team secure the World Cup title.

The pledge adds to a history of unusual promises made by Cucurella. Before Spain’s successful Euro 2024 campaign, he pledged to dye his hair red if the team won the tournament, a promise he fulfilled after their victory. However, the defender has previously insisted there is one tattoo he would never consider, once declaring that he would rather shave his head than have the Barcelona club crest tattooed on his body.

Spain head into the World Cup final in outstanding form, having eliminated Portugal, France and Belgium during an impressive run to the tournament’s showpiece, where they will face Argentina in a highly anticipated clash.
