According to Ireporter Online, the controversial singer made the statement during an appearance on Channels Television’s Rubbin’ Minds, where he described himself as a major force shaping the Nigerian entertainment industry.

Portable insisted that his unique style and growing influence have positioned him as an important figure in the country’s music scene, stating that artistes who desire Grammy recognition would benefit from working with him.

The singer described himself as the “new face” of Nigerian music and compared his impact to that of legendary Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, while highlighting his originality and the number of people inspired by his style.

“If any artiste wants to collect Grammy in this Nigeria, if you don’t feature me, you’d not collect Grammy. If you want to collect a Grammy nomination, come and feature me. I am the new face—new born Fela,” Portable said.

Beyond music, the Zazuu crooner also spoke about his involvement in celebrity boxing, claiming that his career has contributed to the growth and popularity of the sport in Nigeria.

The singer is also scheduled to return to the boxing ring for a rematch against actor Charles Okocha on July 31 at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos, in a bout tagged “Unfinished Business.”
