Labour Party Gets INEC Nomination Portal Access
The Labour Party (LP) has confirmed that it has received the access code from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) required to upload the particulars of its candidates for the 2027 governorship and State House of Assembly elections.
According to Ireporter Online, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ken Asogwa, disclosed on Monday in Abuja that the submission process commenced on Saturday and has continued without significant challenges.
Asogwa stated that the party has already uploaded the details of a substantial number of its candidates through INEC’s nomination portal and is working to complete the exercise within the deadline set by the electoral commission.
He, however, did not reveal the identities of the candidates or specify the states whose nominations had already been submitted.
The Labour Party spokesman explained that the technical issues previously encountered during the submission of presidential and National Assembly candidates were not unique to the party.
According to him, several political parties experienced similar difficulties due to discrepancies between names contained in their internal records and those reflected on the INEC nomination portal, making the harmonisation process more challenging.
He noted that the current upload process has progressed smoothly, with the party making steady progress toward completing all required submissions.
The Labour Party reaffirmed its commitment to complying fully with INEC’s timetable and guidelines, assuring members and candidates that every necessary detail would be uploaded accurately and within the stipulated timeframe ahead of the 2027 general elections.
