According to Ireporter Online, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has paid a courtesy visit to a chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Kabiru Gaya, in Kano State.

Yilwatda disclosed that the meeting focused on issues concerning the unity, peace and development of Kano State, stressing that political leaders have a responsibility to encourage dialogue and peaceful coexistence despite differences in party affiliations.

The APC chairman, in a statement shared on his official social media platform on Sunday, described Senator Gaya as one of the founding members of the APC before his move to the NDC.

He stated that the discussions were cordial and centred on the need for leaders to prioritise the interests of citizens above political disagreements. According to him, democracy thrives when leaders work together to promote unity and progress rather than division.

The visit came shortly after Yilwatda met with Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, and another NDC chieftain, Senator Rufai Hanga, as part of engagements focused on the political and social development of Kano State.

The APC chairman reiterated the importance of placing the welfare of the people above partisan interests, adding that collaboration among political actors remains essential for strengthening Nigeria’s democratic process.
