Super Eagles Star Tanimu Joins Black Stars On Two-Year Deal

The former Bendel Insurance defender has continued to expand his experience across different football leagues since departing the Nigerian domestic scene. His latest move adds to spells with English side Crawley Town and Moroccan club Maghreb de Fès, where he gained valuable exposure in European and North African football.

Tanimu is expected to strengthen Singida Black Stars’ defensive unit with his experience, leadership qualities and versatility as the club prepares for the upcoming league campaign.

Reacting to the transfer, the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Institute for Sports (NIS), Comrade Philip Shaibu, expressed confidence that the Nigerian international would enjoy a successful spell in Tanzania.

Shaibu described Tanimu as a disciplined and hardworking footballer who has consistently shown dedication to improving his career. He also reflected on the defender’s development during his time in the Bendel Insurance setup while serving as Deputy Governor of Edo State.

According to the NIS boss, Tanimu’s rise from a promising youngster to a Super Eagles player demonstrates the importance of creating opportunities for young talents to develop and reach their full potential.

He added that the defender’s career progression highlights the value of sustained investment in grassroots sports, noting that such efforts can produce athletes capable of competing successfully on the international stage.

Shaibu reaffirmed his commitment to youth development through sports, describing football as a powerful platform for empowering young Nigerians regardless of their social or economic background.

He further expressed optimism that Tanimu would continue to make Nigeria proud at his new club, while encouraging aspiring footballers to draw inspiration from the defender’s journey from Bendel Insurance to the international stage.

Tanimu will now aim to establish himself in the Tanzanian Premier League and help Singida Black Stars achieve their objectives with the experience gained from playing in Nigeria, England and Morocco.
