JUST IN: Abdullahi Is Dead

Professor Abdullahi Mahadi, a former vice chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, has died. He was 77.

The late scholar was a renowned historian and accomplished educator who served as vice chancellor of Gombe State University and Gombe State University of Science and Technology.

He began his teaching career as a senior lecturer in history at ABU in 1984 and rose through the ranks to become vice chancellor between 1998 and 2004.

The late professor was the recipient of a CON national honor.

According to The Abusite, he was honored at the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, ISESCO Headquarters, Rabat, Morocco in 2017 by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on “The Environmental Management and Protection in the Islamic World”.

He wrote and co-wrote several books, including History of Nigeria for Schools and Colleges, Books I-II (Longman, 1988).
