Edo Assembly May Show Mercy To 2Baba’s Wife Natasha Osawaru Over Viral Controversy

According to Ireporter Online, a member of the Edo State House of Assembly has disclosed that the Assembly may show leniency towards embattled lawmaker Natasha Osawaru if she appears before the House and expresses genuine remorse over her recent actions.

The lawmaker representing Egor Constituency was summoned following the circulation of viral videos showing a heated public altercation between her and renowned music star Innocent “2Baba” Idibia, whom she recently married in a private ceremony. The dispute later escalated during a live Instagram session hosted by media personality Daddy Freeze.

During plenary, the Assembly directed Osawaru to appear before its Ethics and Privileges Committee within seven working days to respond to allegations of misconduct brought against her. Lawmaker Okaka Eric, who spoke on the matter, stated that while the House would not deny her constituents proper representation, any form of forgiveness would be dependent on her conduct and attitude when she appears before the committee.

He stressed that if investigations confirm the allegations and she shows sincere remorse with a willingness to amend her ways, the House could consider granting her forgiveness. He also clarified that the committee’s report would not be final until it is presented before the full House for deliberation and decision.

The chairman of the Ethics and Privileges Committee, Eugene Inegbeboh, confirmed that the panel has commenced a fact-finding process. While acknowledging that Osawaru recently gave birth, he noted that the House still expects her to honour the summons and defend herself accordingly.
