Presidency Fires Back At Ali Ndume: “Hand Your Information To The Military
The Presidency has called on Ali Ndume to share any intelligence in his possession regarding an alleged planned terrorist attack in Borno State, following his warning about escalating insecurity in the North-East. According to Ireporter Online, the senator had raised concerns that the region could be overwhelmed by terrorists if the military is not sufficiently equipped.
Responding to the claims, the Special Adviser to Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, dismissed the alarm, maintaining that the Federal Government has continued to strengthen the capacity of the armed forces in the fight against insurgency. He emphasised that both the military and the civilian Joint Task Force remain actively engaged in operations aimed at protecting lives and restoring stability across the region.
Onanuga further urged the lawmaker to channel any credible intelligence directly to security agencies instead of making public pronouncements that could heighten fear among citizens. He reiterated that the administration has consistently invested in military equipment and has also sought strategic support from international partners, including the United States, United Kingdom, France, and Turkey, alongside collaboration with neighbouring countries in the Sahel region.
He assured that security forces are making sustained efforts to counter insurgency and safeguard the North-East and the nation at large.
