In an interview, Ibrahim emphasized that no provision in the law exempts individuals from traffic regulations, regardless of their status or connections.
He urged motorists to familiarize themselves with traffic regulations in their respective states and emphasized that compliance with these rules is paramount.
According to Ibrahim, many motorists often believe that having complete paperwork or influential connections exempts them from adhering to traffic regulations. However, he clarified that FRSC enforces traffic rules, not just the possession of vehicle documents.
“The biggest challenge we have in Cross River state is that motorists feel because they have their papers intact so they should ignore the rules,” Ibrahim stated.
He highlighted that offenses such as using a phone while driving, even with valid paperwork, would result in penalties and potential vehicle impoundment.
Ibrahim emphasized that obedience to traffic rules is essential for the FRSC to provide effective services, and reiterated that vehicle papers serve as collateral to ensure offenders return for resolution.
The FRSC’s unwavering stance underscores its commitment to enforcing traffic regulations and promoting road safety for all motorists, irrespective of their documentation or social standing.
