to the people of Rivers State, with a focus on initiatives aimed at transforming the region.
During a gathering of leaders, elders, and key stakeholders celebrating his 50th birthday at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, Fubara shared these sentiments. His words were relayed through a press release from his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi.
Although he generally does not mark birthdays, Fubara expressed his happiness at the turnout of state leaders for the occasion.
The governor emphasized his intention to act with dignity and honor the sacrifices made by those who support his administration.
“I want to assure you that I will remain the Fubara you know; power will not alter my character. I will uphold what matters most to me in life, which includes my faith in God and respect for others,” he stated.
“Power may rise and fade, but I will continue to be the same Fubara you have always known. With your support, we will work towards the Rivers State we all envision. While we may not achieve everything at once, we will implement initiatives that pave the way for that future.”
“I promise not to act in a way that would bring shame to myself or to those who are willing to make sacrifices for our vision.”
In reflecting on his milestone birthday, Fubara remarked, “Today is a celebration, not a time for political discussions. I am delighted to be 50 years old. This Golden Jubilee signifies my entry into the ranks of elder statesmen.”
Former Governor of Rivers State, Sir Celestine Omehia, praised God for Fubara’s appointment, calling him a savior for the state and its people, who has protected them from those wishing to bring harm.
In his address, Uche Secondus, former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), emphasized the importance of allowing the king to govern once crowned, irrespective of whoever may have been the kingmaker.
