Mercy and her husband, Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa, welcomed their son in 2023. However, following the unveiling of their baby’s face, rumors surfaced that the child was fathered by fellow gospel musician Nathaniel Bassey.

In a video shared on her Instagram page on Tuesday, Mercy accused Eezeetee of sponsoring the rumors out of hatred for Nathaniel Bassey. She also echoed points raised in a letter issued by her lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi, on January 25, refuting claims of initiating any legal action against Eezeetee over her music catalog.

The Excess Love singer revealed that her relationship with Eezeetee was so toxic that she was forced to relocate from Lagos to Port Harcourt. She described enduring bullying, threats, and oppression while working with him.

“He looked me in the eyes and said, ‘I made you who you are, and I will destroy you.’ I was scared for my life. I had to leave Lagos because the environment became toxic,” she shared.

Mercy accused Eezeetee of withholding her royalties for two years and orchestrating a smear campaign against her. She alleged that the rumors about her son’s paternity and his involvement in sponsoring bloggers to spread false information stemmed from his dislike for Nathaniel Bassey and Pastor Jerry Eze.

“One of my major ‘crimes’ was collaborating with Pastor Nathaniel Bassey on a song. His hatred for Pastor Nathaniel drove him to sponsor fake news about my innocent son, claiming he wasn’t mine. He even tried to sabotage my participation in Pastor Jerry Eze’s event. Just because you hate someone doesn’t mean I have to hate them too.”
