Content creator Jarvis has responded to recent criticism from rapper YCee over what he described as “Peller culture” or an “Olodo uprising” trend on social media.

According to Ireporter Online, the controversy began after YCee expressed concern over the growing popularity of online content that he believes glorifies “foolish” or sensational behaviour, warning that it could negatively influence young people and discourage academic values.

Reacting to the remarks, Jarvis defended digital creators, arguing that many graduates in Nigeria are currently facing unemployment despite completing their university education. She questioned what young people are expected to do in a situation where job opportunities remain limited, insisting that content creation has become a legitimate source of income for many.

Jarvis, who noted that she is also a graduate, dismissed the idea that content creators are opposed to education. She said individuals simply channel their skills and creativity differently based on opportunity and circumstance.

She further stated that while critics label the trend as “Peller culture,” she sees it differently, describing her own creative space as “AI culture,” and emphasising that people are free to define their paths based on their interests and talents.

Highlighting the role of digital platforms, Jarvis expressed appreciation for technology and social media innovations that have enabled young Nigerians to earn a living online, suggesting that without such opportunities, many youths would be in more difficult economic situations.

In her words, she stressed that graduates should not be judged harshly for turning to content creation, adding that survival in the current economy often requires adaptability and innovation.
