JUST IN: Setback For Peter Obi As Labour Party Deputy Gov Candidate, Senatorial Candidates, House Of Reps Candidates Join APC
The Zamfara Labour Party (LP) deputy governorship candidate, three senatorial candidates, and seven House of Representatives candidates have all joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Alhaji Sule Dansadau, deputy governorship candidate; Yahaya Audi Mafara, Zamfara West senatorial candidate; Alhaji Sani Yusuf Danmasami, Zamfara Central senatorial candidate; and Engineer Adamu Yakubu, Zamfara North senatorial candidate all joined the APC.
Seven LP House of Representatives candidates and 14 of the 19 House of Assembly candidates also defected to the APC.
At an organized defection ceremony in Talata-Mafara Local Government Area, they were greeted by Abdulaziz Yari, chairman of the Zamfara 2023 governorship campaign council.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Tukur Umar Danfulani, represented by his deputy, Alhaji Hassan Marafa Damri, expressed delight at their decision to join the APC, which he described as a significant boost to the party.
Damri emphasized that all right-thinking Zamfara indigenes must be passionate about the state’s peace and stability and, as a result, must work together to move the state forward.
Yari was pleased with their defection, saying they made the right decision by abandoning their political ambitions and joining the ruling APC.
Given its previous dominance of power from the defunct APP, ANPP, and now APC, he assured them that the APC is a party for the people of Zamfara.
In their declaratory statements, the deputy governorship candidate and Zamfara Central senatorial candidate, who spoke on behalf of other defectors, said they resolved to abandon their respective ambitions to support the APC because of the peace and stability brought about by the reconciliation of former Governor Abdulaziz Yari and Governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle.
They promised to mobilize all of their supporters and vote for APC candidates from top to bottom during the election.
