Obaseki’s Plot To Use VGN, ESN As Election Thugs With Protection From A Compromised Nigeria Army, Police Uncovered
Plot by the Edo State Government to enlist the illegal services of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) Edo State Chapter led by Col. Kole Oshioriamhe Omomia (Rtd) and the Edo Security Network (ESN) led by Engr. David Olukoga with full protection of the Nigeria Army and Nigeria Police in Edo State to manipulate the outcome of the Saturday, March 11th election has been exposed.
A Government House source who pleaded anonymity for fear of consequences said the Governor of Edo State Mr. Godwin Obaseki is heavily disturbed by the outcome of last Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections where his party the PDP came a distant third and couldn’t produce any National Assembly member despite being the ruling party in the state.
The source said the governor is worried about serious troubles and possible impeachment if APC throws up the majority in the next Saturday’s election and has vowed to win for the PDP House of Assembly Candidates by hook or crook. He said that if Nyesom Wike could allegedly decide the outcome of Saturday’s election in Rivers in favour of APC, he can do the same in Edo next Saturday.
In a meeting held in Government House on Thursday with leaders of the Edo Security Network (ESN) and Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), Godwin Obaseki gave an express order to the group to assemble their men to act as PDP security to escort election materials from and to Ward Collation Centres and where election results are not favourable to the PDP, the INEC Collation Officers should be abducted to falsify the results in favour of the PDP.
The ESN and VGN leaders who expressed fear that they will have the Nigeria Army and Police on election duty to contend with were assured that security agencies including the Nigeria Army and Police have been adequately settled by the Governor to offer them the needed cover and where necessary, assist them to carry out their plans successfully.
Our source said, “the governor is all out for violence as he told the local vigilante leaders that he doesn’t mind anyone dying to achieve his aim as he is sure Edo people are not happy with his administration and are likely to repeat the fatal blow they dealt on the PDP last Saturday if not checked with violent intimidation and massive vote buying to help rig the process. The Governor have also sew Army uniforms for some of the selected vigilantes to disguise as soldiers as well.” He said the Governor proclaimed it a ‘do or die’ affair.
