Outrage As MTN, Airtel, Glo Raise Prices – NLC Urges Nigerians To Stop Using Phones For 3 Hours Daily

Speaking in an interview with Arise News, Upah criticized telecom companies for failing to honor a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) agreed upon with the government, which stipulated the formation of a technical committee to assess tariff increases.

He described the tariff hike as a “betrayal of trust” and an “affront” to both the government and Nigerian citizens. Upah emphasized that solidarity among Nigerians could pressure telecom operators to reverse the price increase.

According to him, telecom companies like MTN, Airtel, and Glo took Nigerians for granted, implementing excessive tariff hikes that would not be tolerated elsewhere. He urged Nigerians to stand together and exercise their right to civil protest by boycotting telecom services for specified hours daily until the end of the month.
