Prominent PDP Chieftain Joins APC in Ebonyi to Support Governor Nwifuru’s Vision

Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Ezza North/Ishielu Federal Constituency in the 2023 general election, Emmanuel Nwite, has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State. Nwite’s defection comes shortly after the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, also made the switch to the ruling party.

Nwite, who displayed his APC membership card at Ezzagu Ward 1 in Ishielu Local Government Area, emphasized that his decision to join APC was not driven by immediate political ambitions. Instead, he expressed a commitment to supporting the state governor, Francis Nwifuru.

“We are joining the APC to support our governor, Francis Nwifuru, to ensure that his Ebonyi People’s Charter of Needs reaches every corner of the state,” Nwite said.

Accompanied by thousands of his supporters, Nwite highlighted the governor’s exemplary leadership and humility, which has resonated with the people of Ebonyi, regardless of the power he holds. He reassured those concerned about potential political competition, stating, “We are not joining APC for any immediate political interest. For those who may think that we are coming to hijack the political structure or displace them, I want to allay your fears. We are not here to flex muscles with anyone because it is God that gives power and He gives it to whomever He pleases.”

Nwite also praised the Chairman of the APC in Ebonyi State, Stanley Okoro-Emegha, for his leadership in the party and his unwavering support of Governor Nwifuru’s administration. Despite the APC’s dominance at both the state and federal levels, Okoro-Emegha has remained focused on uniting the state, reaching out across party lines to garner support for the governor’s vision.

In his concluding remarks, Nwite called on all residents of Ebonyi to rally behind Governor Nwifuru’s administration and to avoid actions that could undermine the state’s progress.
