According to Ireporter Online, the Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thought, Sam Amadi, has stated that the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, has not yet publicly confirmed former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, as his running mate ahead of the 2027 general election.

Amadi made the remark in a post on , following reports that the ADC had already settled on Amaechi as its vice-presidential candidate. He noted that while speculation continues over the alleged pairing, Nigerians are still awaiting an official announcement from Atiku himself to validate the claim.

In his words, Amadi suggested that the public would have to wait for Atiku to personally confirm the development, stating that no such declaration had been made at the time of his post.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that the ADC has selected Amaechi as its vice-presidential candidate for the 2027 polls on what party leaders described as a “unity and rescue ticket.” The decision was announced in a statement by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, who said the choice followed extensive consultations within the party. He also pointed to Amaechi’s strong performance as runner-up in the party’s presidential primaries and his record of public service as key factors behind the decision.
