Oshiomhole Breaks Silence On Akpoti-Uduaghan Suspension

Senator Adams Oshiomhole, who represents Edo North Senatorial District, has clarified his remarks concerning the suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, insisting that his comments were misconstrued and did not suggest that any senator’s signature was forged.

According to Ireporter Online, the former Edo State governor issued the clarification in a statement released on Tuesday following reactions to his appearance on AIT’s Politics Today programme.

Oshiomhole explained that his position aligns with that of the Senate spokesperson, Senator Yemi Adaramodu, maintaining that there was no forgery of senators’ signatures because no member of the Red Chamber had reported such an incident to him.

He stressed that the only issue he referenced during the interview was a claim made by a senator who served on the committee responsible for the matter, alleging that attendance signatures of some lawmakers were attached to the committee’s final report.

The lawmaker dismissed suggestions that he accused anyone of forging signatures, describing such interpretations as false and a complete misrepresentation of his remarks. He urged the public to disregard the claims, reiterating that he never alleged any form of signature forgery in relation to Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension.

Oshiomhole further stated that the controversy surrounding the suspension had already been resolved and that the Senate had moved forward from the matter.

He also expressed regret over any unintended consequences of his comments, saying he was sorry if his remarks caused embarrassment to any senator or to the 10th Senate as an institution.

His clarification followed the Senate’s rejection of claims that the suspension process had been manipulated, with the upper legislative chamber accusing him of attempting to revive an issue it considers settled.
