Ribadu Confirms President Tinubu’s Satisfaction With Fubara’s Performance

According to Ireporter Online, the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, has commended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara for his “responsible leadership,” revealing that President Bola Tinubu is satisfied with the governor’s performance.

Ribadu made the remarks on Monday while leading a presidential delegation during a courtesy visit to the Rivers State Government House in Port Harcourt. He praised Fubara for contributing to making Rivers one of the most peaceful states in the country and stated that the federal delegation aimed to reinforce ongoing peace initiatives in Ogoniland.

“A new chapter is unfolding for the Ogoni ethnic nationality, signaling a transformation that will reshape Nigeria, beginning in the area,” Ribadu said. He added that President Tinubu personally directed him to thank Fubara, noting the President’s approval of his leadership style and coordination of discussions on the resumption of oil exploration in Ogoni. Ribadu also conveyed the President’s gratitude to the people of Ogoni for their patience and support.

The NSA acknowledged the state government’s efforts in providing a campus for the University of Environment and accommodating the South-South Zonal Office of the Office of the NSA. Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi, described the Ogoni Peace Initiative as a strategic move toward national unity, affirming that President Tinubu is personally committed to the welfare of the Niger Delta. Umahi noted that ongoing road projects, including the 15-kilometre Eleme axis of the East–West Road with five flyovers, remain on track, with completion expected in April 2026. Plans to dualise the Bonny–Bodo Road and redesign the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway to pass through Ogoniland have also been approved.

Minister of Environment, Balarabe Lawal, confirmed that the Ogoni clean-up project continues to progress, focusing on mangrove restoration, healthcare, human capital development, and women empowerment. The Group CEO of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Bayo Ojulare, reiterated the company’s commitment to prioritising the people in future oil operations, revealing that employment offers for 30 Ogoni indigenes have been finalised, with resumption scheduled for January 2026.

Governor Fubara expressed appreciation for President Tinubu’s intervention in resolving the decades-long Ogoni crisis, highlighting that the measures would ease movement along the East–West Road and restore confidence in the region. He stressed the need for dialogue, youth engagement, and cooperation with oil facility operators to prevent further environmental damage, emphasising that sustainable development requires peace and compromise.
