Two Killed, Others Sustain Gun Shot Injuries As Gunmen Attack Ogun Community
Two persons were feared killed in the early hours of Wednesday, while no fewer than 10 others were shot and wounded as armed hoodlums invaded Ipetu Baba Ode village in the Onibuku area Ado-Odo/ Ota Local Government in Ogun State.
Corpses of the deceased persons identified as Barakat Afolayan and one other person were as of Wednesday afternoon still missing as the hoodlums reportedly went away with them.
Some of the villagers, who were shot in the attack were identified as Omotayo Babajide, Damiare Kokumo, Surajudeen Adewuyi, Ailelupo Olusola, Biodun Akinjobi, Rafiu Adegbite and others.
A survivor, Biodun Akinjobi, while narrating the incident said, “this morning, we were in the village, when we noticed some policemen. They came in our direction and were talking to us.”
“We were still talking to them when we noticed some vehicles behind them. I could recognize some of the people in the vehicle. They were Elijah Adeogun, Akeem Fagbenro, Taofeek Oduasanyin, Abbey Warrior, Sina Omiewa and Apeho Lamidi.”
Akinjobi said that they were still talking to the policemen when over 150 armed hoodlums came on multiple motorcycles and started shooting at them.
Another survivor, Surajudeen Adewuyi also said, “They killed two of the people who were with us and took their corpses away. I was shot more than three times in the back.”
The survivor, who was in serious pains, described his escape as ‘miraculous’ when he said “It is a miracle that I am still alive. I saw two of our people on the floor. I just managed to escape from the scene.”
