UTME Forms To Be Free For PWDs, Says JAMB
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has generated over N2.2 billion from the sale of e-Pins for this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), while pledging free application forms to candidates with disabilities.
According to a statement by the board’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, registration for the 2026/2027 UTME began on January 26 and will close on February 28. The free forms are part of JAMB’s commitment to providing equal opportunities for all candidates, particularly persons living with disabilities (PLWDs), who wish to pursue higher education.
JAMB’s Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, emphasized that the initiative is managed by the board’s Equal Opportunity Group (JEOG) and is designed to support candidates with conditions such as Down Syndrome, Autism, Dyslexia, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. He added that visually impaired candidates will also benefit from audiobooks, a digital adaptation of printed reading materials, to assist in exam preparation.
“To support PLWDs, JAMB will issue free application documents to all categories of persons living with disabilities,” Oloyede stated. “Candidates must possess at least five credits at the Ordinary Level (O/L) in not more than two sittings to qualify.”
The board reiterated its dedication to the welfare of persons with disabilities, highlighting the free application forms as part of a broader effort to ensure equitable access to educational opportunities across Nigeria.
