A Brief Overview Of Dennis Idahosa, The Performing Federal Lawmaker From Ovia
What should preoccupy Nigerians’ minds this season is who to vote for. As the country prepares for another critical round of general elections, it is imperative that the people understand who they are voting for because only that determines their destiny.
Hon Dennis Idahosa, who represents Ovia Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, is one politician who has done the inhabitants of Ovia proud and put Edo on the map of progress in terms of constituency initiatives.
Here’s a glance at his background.
Hon Dennis Idahosa is from Iguobazuwa, Ovia South West Local Government Area of Edo State. He attended Ozolua Model Elementary School in Iguobazuwa and Utoka Grammar School in Utoka for his primary and secondary education, respectively.
Following that, he went to Western Delta University in Ogharra, Delta state, where he earned a BSC in Sociology. Additionally, he studied at the London School of Economics and Political Studies, where he earned a certificate in negotiation. At the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, he earned a master’s degree in legislative studies.
He had years of experience in the engineering and construction industries while working in the private sector. At the Edo State Ministry of Investment, Public and Private Partnership, where he held the position of Honourable Commissioner, he effectively carried out his duties by adhering to the values of accountability and transparency.
Following that, he was appointed as a Federal Board Member in the National Agency for the Great Green Wall under the Ministry of Environment by the Presidency in 2018 as the representative of the South-South Region.
He is currently the Honorable Member representing Ovia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and the Chairman of the House of Representatives’ Standing Committee on Legislative Compliance.
The fact that the lawmaker was raised in his ancestral community of Ovia, where he finished both primary and secondary school, makes him a bonafide son of the soil. This may be one of the reasons the lawmaker is familiar with his constituents and responds quickly to their demands.
