Wike Has Done It Again, See What Rivers Govt Just Did To Atiku’s Campaign

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike says the state government has re-issued permission for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Working Committee to hold a presidential campaign rally at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in the state.

The Rivers State Government rescinded the initial approval granted on January 11 on the grounds that credible intelligence and recent developments show that the PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation is collaborating with the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers.

According to the government, the PDP Presidential Campaign Organization intends to share the approved facility with the APC, whose activities are marked by violence and destruction.

However, at the state PDP Campaign Rally in the Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area on Tuesday, Wike stated that the government reapproved the use of the venue following numerous requests from prominent figures.

The governor also addressed the PDP crisis, while criticizing the National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu, for claiming that a member of the G5 had visited him (Ayu).

Wike denied the claim, claiming that no member of the group of five PDP governors advocating for the party’s Southern Chairmanship would visit Ayu.

Nobody can blackmail the G5 governors into dropping their political advocacy, he says, because it is a fight they must win.

Wike insisted that no one could drive them away from the party they had created.

The Rivers governor, among others, has repeatedly demanded Ayu’s resignation in order to support PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar.
