I Have Been Spending N20,000 For One Week – Adesina

Following the naira scarcity caused by the Central Bank of Nigeria’s currency redesign, the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, has revealed that he is affected by the policy.

The presidential spokesman stated in an article titled ‘Living on a shoestring budget’ that he spent N20,000 in one week.

According to Adesina, he has been surviving despite the country’s new naira scarcity.

“The Central Bank of Nigeria later secured a ten days extension of the deadline from President Muhammadu Buhari, which has now been further extended by a Supreme Court ruling,” he said.

“But it has not changed the fact that I’ve been spending the sum of N20,000 for one week, and I’m still spending it. Shoestring budget? Yes, you are right. That’s what it is.”

Adesina explained that he and others had left for a trip that would take them to “Bauchi, Lagos, Senegal, Katsina, Kano, and Jigawa” between January 23 and January 31.
