BREAKING: Woman Burnt Alive, Houses Set On Fire In Imo

An elderly woman was burned to death when gunmen razed houses in Amagu Ihube community in Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo state on Tuesday.

The country homes of Imo State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Emeka Okoronkwo, were among those destroyed.

Also burnt is the country home of a former Dean of the Law Faculty of the Imo State University, Owerri, Nnamdi Obiaraeri, who served as Commissioner for information, youth and sports and land and urban planning, respectively during the administrations of former governors of the state, Ikedi Ohakim and Rochas Okorocha.

The country home of Emeka Ngwu, a retired Director of the Department of Security Service, was also set ablaze.

According to Daily Trust, the elderly woman was in Ngwu’s house when she was caught in the raging inferno.

Two houses belonging to two other prominent sons of the area were also raszd.

On Tuesday, Okoronkwo confirmed the attack on his home to reporters.

ASP Henry Okoye, a police public relations officer, also confirmed the attack.

He stated that the police had launched an investigation into the incident, but that no arrests had been made as of yet.
