Dr. Umar Mustapha Muqaddas, the Labour Party’s governorship candidate, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Muqaddas, who announced his defection at a press conference in the state capital of Yola on Thursday, urged his supporters to vote for the APC on Saturday.

The APC’s presidential candidate is Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, while Muqaddas’ former party’s candidate is Peter Obi.

Muqaddas stated that he had dismantled the Adamawa Labour Party structure and that his new party would benefit.

He stated that his supporters joined the LP with the hope that it will provide the progressive, truthful, inclusive, and visionary alternative that Nigerian politics requires.

He and his supporters were disappointed because the people running the LP were just as bad as the system they were attempting to change.

He lamented that, despite their efforts and good intentions, they realized that the structure established by the Peter Obi Presidential campaign organization would lead them nowhere at the national and state levels.

“I have been completely sidelined and ignored even deliberately disrespected by LP structure both at the national and state and same applies for other candidates in the LP,” he said.
