‘Fredrick Leonard’ Arrested By EFCC, Nollywood Actor Reacts

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Abuja Zonal Command, has charged one Aiosa Kelvin Orhue with three counts of love scam before Justice C.E. Nwecheonwu of the FCT High Court, Kuje, Abuja.

According to the EFCC, sometime in 2021 in Abuja, Orhue, who goes by Fredrick Leonard on social media, obtained N104,000,000 (One Hundred and Four Million Naira) from one Cheryldene Cook under false pretense and with intent to defraud.

Orhue pretended to be actor Frederick Leonard, who was in love with her and convinced her that he was going to marry her, which he knew was a lie.

“You thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Sections 1 (1)(a) and 1 (3) of the Advance Fee ud and ^er Fraud Related Offences Act. 2006 respectively.

“Orhue (aka Fredrick Leonard), still claiming to be in love with Cherydene Cook and using the Instagram handle @ burgerde defrauded her of the sum of $26,020 (Twenty Six Thousand and Twenty Dollars) only, an offence contrary to and punishable under Sections 321 and 322 of the Penal Code Act, Laws of the Federation (Abuja) 1990 respectively.”

Reacting to the development, Leonard said; “the desperate women who indulge these impostors on unverified accounts (no blue tick) then get scammed, run to my main account to rant sh!t will turn a blind eye to this post. These desperate ladies must have a lot of money to waste in this harsh global economy.

“You transfer a huge amount of money to someone you have never met physically and you say your brain is working right. as for the lazy Nigerian youths who are impostors, more will be caught.”

Meanwhile, the accused has pleaded guilty to the charges, according to the EFCC.
