In Nigeria, ‘X,’ formerly known as Twitter, has initiated a payment system for content creators and social media influencers based on its ad revenue-sharing model.

This program is extended to verified users in Nigeria and globally who meet specific criteria and achieve a minimum threshold of impressions on their posts and content.

The blue Verified badge on ‘X’ signifies that an account of public interest is genuine.

To earn this badge, an account must be authentic, notable, and active. Additionally, the account must have an active subscription to Twitter Blue and meet ‘X’s’ eligibility requirements. After becoming verified, the account needs to have at least 500 followers and 15 million impressions on cumulative posts within the past three months to start earning.

Here are the eligibility criteria for the blue checkmark:

1. Completeness: The account must have a display name and profile photo.
2. Active Use: The account should have been active in the past 30 days for Twitter Blue subscription.
3. Security: The account must be older than 30 days upon subscription and have a confirmed phone number.
4. Non-Deceptive: No recent changes to the profile photo, display name, or username (@handle).
5. Transparency: The account must have no signs of being misleading or deceptive.
6. No Platform Manipulation: No signs of engaging in platform manipulation and spam.

To apply for verification:

1. Go to the main menu and select Settings and Support.
2. Choose Settings and Privacy.
3. Select Your account.
4. Click on Account information and enter your password.
5. Under Verified, select Request Verification, then Start request.
6. The blue checkmark will appear if ‘X’ team reviews your Twitter Blue subscribed account and it meets the requirements.

There are different categories for verification, including Government, News organizations, Companies, Entertainment, Sports, Activists, and Content creators.

Certain accounts are ineligible for the blue badge, even if they meet the requirements:

1. Parody, newsfeed, commentary, and unofficial fan accounts.
2. Pets and fictional characters.
3. Accounts engaged in severe violations of ‘X’ Platform manipulation and spam policy.
4. Accounts associated with coordinated harmful activity.
5. Accounts that frequently post harassing, shaming, or insulting content.
6. Accounts promoting the sale of the Verification badge or unauthorized assistance with the application process.

For Ads Revenue Sharing, eligible content creators must meet specific requirements:

1. Be subscribed to X Premium or Verified Organizations.
2. Have at least 15 million organic impressions on cumulative posts within the last 3 months.
3. Have at least 500 followers.

Eligible users will need a Stripe account for payouts, and they can set up payments from within the Monetization section of the app.

Once opted in, users will receive regular payouts as long as they generate more than $50 USD. This program is designed to help individuals earn directly on ‘X’ through ad revenue-sharing.
