Coup: Nigeria Embassy Burnt Down In Niger? – Envoy Speaks
The Nigerian embassy in Niger Republic has refuted a viral report suggesting that the embassy was set on fire by enraged demonstrators in Niamey, Niger.
A statement, signed by Liti Auwalu on behalf of the Nigerian Ambassador to Niger and released on Saturday, clarified that although the protesters attempted to enter the embassy premises, the situation was managed by the Nigerien military and police, and the embassy is currently well protected.

The statement conveyed, “We have been made aware of false videos circulating on various social media platforms depicting the Chancery Building in Niamey being set ablaze by protesters.
The Embassy wants to inform the public that although there was an attempt by protesters to access the Embassy on July 30, 2023, the Nigerien Military and Police Authorities promptly handled the situation. Presently, the Embassy is under the vigilant protection of the Nigerien Military and other Security Authorities.”
The statement emphasized that the circulated videos are not genuine, and the general public is advised to disregard such content.
