Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Umo Eno, has explained why he chose to use the state-owned commercial airline, Ibom Air, instead of the official governor’s jet for his recent official engagements outside the state.

Speaking to reporters at the Victor Attah International Airport after returning from official duties in Abuja, the governor highlighted that his decision aimed to promote the airline’s brand and gain insights into its operations.

Governor Eno clarified that the former governor, Udom Emmanuel, does not have custody of the official governor’s jet, contrary to speculations.

He urged citizens to refrain from spreading baseless allegations that lack substance or purpose.

He stated that his choice to travel on Ibom Air was motivated by his desire to assess the airline’s service standards, which he described as exceptional and globally competitive.

This reputation has led to Ibom Air becoming the preferred choice for air travelers within the country.

The governor dispelled rumors that he opted for public transport due to the former governor’s possession of the official jet. He called such speculation groundless and unfounded. He humorously wondered how people would react when he eventually travels on the soon-to-be-launched palliative buses intended to mitigate the effects of fuel subsidy removal.

Eno’s approach to governance centers around demystifying his role to connect more effectively with the general population. He stressed that his actions are aimed at promoting the Akwa Ibom brand and the state’s full ownership of Ibom Air. As part of his responsibilities, he focuses on endorsing the state’s initiatives and plans for growth, which includes publicizing the state-owned airline.
