BREAKING: North Korea Takes Strong Decision On US Soldier Travis King Who Crossed Border From South Korea
According to state media KCNA, North Korea has made the decision to “expel” US Army Private Travis King, who illegally entered North Korean territory from South Korea during a tour of the joint security area in July.
The report stated that the investigation into King has been concluded. The specifics of when, where, and how King would be expelled were not provided in the report.
King crossed the military demarcation line from South Korea into North Korea in July while visiting the Joint Security Area within the demilitarized zone (DMZ).
At the time of the incident, King, a junior enlisted soldier assigned to US Forces Korea, was facing assault charges in South Korea. He was scheduled to return to Fort Bliss, Texas, and be discharged from the military the day after he crossed into North Korea.

North Korea stated on Wednesday that King had “confessed that he illegally intruded into the territory of the DPRK as he harbored ill feeling against inhuman maltreatment and racial discrimination within the U.S. army and was disillusioned about the unequal U.S. society.”
National Security Council spokesman John Kirby mentioned last month that it wouldn’t be surprising if North Korea used Travis King as a propaganda tool or bargaining chip, though no clear indications of such intentions had been observed at the time. Kirby emphasized the importance of obtaining information about King’s whereabouts, conditions of detention, and his health.
