Speaking during the commissioning of a 500-metre road in Umueri, Anambra East Local Government Area, the governor highlighted that 98% of the state’s resources are in private hands, with the government controlling only 2%.

The road, constructed by Chief Josephat Onwualor, showcased the effectiveness of private-public partnership in driving community development.

Governor Soludo praised Chief Onwualor’s initiative, hailing him as “a champion worthy of celebration.” He stressed the need for a community-driven approach, stating, “Fixing the state requires the people and communities, in consonance with the government.” Acknowledging the limitations of state resources, Soludo regretted that the entire 2024 budget would not be sufficient to address all road infrastructure needs within a single local government.

Describing Public-Private Community Partnership (PPCP) as a major key to unlocking Anambra’s development potential, the governor urged citizens to join the initiative by contributing resources and expertise. He expressed optimism for the coming year, predicting that 2024 would be a productive year for the state, marked by unprecedented progress.

The Traditional Ruler of Umueri, Igwe Benneth Emeka, expressed gratitude to Governor Soludo for his leadership and sterling performance, encouraging him to continue his efforts. Dignitaries present at the event included Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ifeanyi Okoma, Power and Water Resources counterpart, Engr. Julius Chukwuemeka, Member Representing Anambra East at the State House of Assembly, Hon Nweke Obi Callistus, and Transition Committee Chairman for Anambra East Council Areas, Hon. Anselm Onuorah.
